Thumbs Up For Turkeys — More Needed
Thumbs up to Foodshare for its annual turkey drive for people who are struggling to put food on the table Thanksgiving Day. But what's this about a shortage? The regional food bank was 1,200 turkeys short on Monday afternoon. Foodshare serves more than 300 food pantries and this year has more requests for turkeys than ever, coming from nearly 20,000 families. If you can find it in your heart to donate a turkey and $30 (its drive is called Turkey and a Thirty), bring them to Foodshare at 450 Woodland Ave., Bloomfield, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. For more information, call 860-286-9999.
