9. Scene: Allentown Art Museum Gala honors Jim Musselman

More than 320 people attended the Allentown Art Museum's annual fundraising Gala on April 13. The up-tick in this year's attendance was perhaps a sign of admiration and support for 2013 Gala honoree James P. Musselman, an artist and longtime art educator who was head of Allen High School's art department. He also founded and ran Musselman Advertising for many years with his wife, Bertie.

  19. Maria Rodale, Chairwoman and CEO of Rodale Inc.

People still look at me funny when I say Rodale is headquartered in the Lehigh Valley. Sometimes I'll say Emmaus, sometimes Allentown or Bethlehem. But unless they are longtime organic gardeners or farmers, in which case Emmaus (the birthplace of the organic movement in America) and Maxatawny (home of the Rodale Institute) are considered Mecca, most people are not familiar with our little valley. (Unless they already live here, of course.)

  21. Tony Iannelli, President and CEO, Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce

For the past 15 years, it has been my honor to preside over the fastest growing Chamber of Commerce in the United States. Serving 800 members in 1998 when I began this journey through today, we now close in on 6,000 members strong, and there is no doubt as to how that growth came to fruition. It can easily be summed up by our mantra: "The Power of Partnerships," business leaders coming together for the common good of the Lehigh Valley — that's how this Chamber, the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, became the ninth largest in the United States.
