Britton: The funeral for Gladys M. Reyelts will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at the First Lutheran Church of Britton with the Rev. Terrill Sorensen officiating. Burial will be in the Britton Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Price Funeral Chapel of Britton.
Gladys passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at Marshall County Healthcare Center in Britton at the age of 90.
Gladys Marion Stenvold was born April 3, 1921, in Forman, N.D., to John Arthur and Karina (Schjefstad) Stenvold. After graduating from Forman High School, Gladys moved to Britton to work in Dakin's Pharmacy.
While working there, she met Clifford Reyelts. They were married Sept. 20, 1942, in Webster. For 37 years, Gladys and Clifford farmed 3 miles west of Britton, where they raised their five daughters.
Gladys was an active member of the First Lutheran Church. She participated in Ladies Aide and Circle. She was also a member of the Marshall County Cancer Society, investment club and the 49ers. Gladys spent many hours baking pies, cookies and all sorts of Norwegian delicacies. She was very proud to be living in Great Britton.
Cliff passed away April 23, 1977, and Gladys continued to live on the farm for 25 years. She moved to an apartment in Britton in 2002 and then to Spruce Court Assisted Living in 2007.
Gladys' kind, gentle and generous spirit will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Grateful for having shared her life are her five daughters: Janice (Dave) Zerr of Burnsville, Minn., Ardyce (Ken) Charles of Colorado Springs, Colo., Lynda Lee (Kesley Edmo, Jr.) Reyelts of Albuquerque, N.M., Mary (Brian) Duoos of Eden Prairie, Minn., Susan (Todd) Walker of Hudson, Wis.; eight grandchildren: Brad Zerr, Angie Zerr, Tami Charles, Jason Charles, Kelly Duoos, Tori Duoos, Paul Walker, Madeline Walker; two great-grandchildren: Campbell Charles and Rhett Charles; one sister: Verna Fredrickson of Santa Fe, N.M.; and many loving nieces, nephews and their families.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; a sister, Ardis Stenvold; two brothers, John Stenvold and Kenny Stenvold; three sisters-in-law; and a brother-in-law.
