Ashley, N.D.: Funeral service for Ervin Feil, 77, of Ashley will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church at Ashley. The Rev. Bob Duemig will officiate.
Burial will be in Hoskins Community Cemetery, rural Ashley.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ervin died Saturday, April 30, 2011, at his home.
Ervin Feil, son of Samuel and Lydia (Fetzer) Feil, was born Aug. 16, 1933, in Eureka, S.D. He was the youngest of six children. He attended country school in McIntosh County.
He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Marzolf on June 5, 1955, in Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Ashley. They farmsteaded six miles northwest of Ashley. Farming was an important way of life for the Feils and Ervin never missed a season. He also enjoyed carpentry work, building his own home, many cabins and ski boats; overhauling engines; painting tractors; fishing; and spending time with his children and grandchildren at their cabin by Lake Hoskins.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; two sons, Willie (Bonnie) Feil of Ashley and Ronnie (Juanita) Feil of Oakes, N.D.; one daughter, Sandra (Walter) Lutkat, of Ashley; one sister, Mathilda Bader, of Lodi, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Billy Lutkat of Ashley, SueAnn Hammarsten of Sioux Falls, S.D., Michelle Braun of Ipswich, S.D., Jackie Feil of Fargo, N.D., Jamie Feil of Ashley, Kristi Wegener and Lori Feil, both of Aberdeen, S.D., and Tyler Feil of Ashley; and three great-grandchildren, Tyrone and Audrey Braun of Ipswich, S.D., and Allie Hammarsten of Sioux Falls, S.D.
His parents, three brothers, Arthur, Sam and Edwin and one sister, Alvina Kempf, preceded him in death.
Honorary Casketbearers will be Ervin's granddaughters, SueAnn Hammarsten, Michelle Braun, Jackie Feil, Kristi Wegener, Jamie Feil and Lori Feil.
Casketbearers will be Daniel Hammarsten, Randy Feil, Sam Feil, Adam Wegener, Tyler Feil and Billy Lutkat.
Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley has been entrusted with arrangements.
