Oceanside, Calif.: Lincoln Boyd, Jr., 83, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2011, in Oceanside, Calif., with his children by his side. A memorial service for Mr. Boyd was held on Aug. 1, 2011, in Oceanside.
Mr. Boyd's wishes were to return to South Dakota for his final resting place. A graveside service with military rites will be held on Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, in Aberdeen at Riverside Memorial Cemetery at the Boyd Family Plot (south side) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Whillock officiating.
Lincoln Boyd Jr., was born June 10, 1924, in Aberdeen, S.D., to Lincoln and Mary (Osman) Boyd. He attended school in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1942. Following graduation, he attended the University of Tulsa, where he earned a bachelor's degree in engineering. He proudly served his country during World War II and the Korean War as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps, earning the rank of lieutenant colonel.
On May 29, 1952, Lincoln married Myrtle Seeman of Rockham, S.D. They were married for 55 years and raised three children in southern California.
Lincoln worked as a sales engineer for the aerospace industry, traveling extensively in the United States and around the world. Many times he was accompanied by his loving wife, Myrtle. They eventually retired to Sun City West, Ariz. Myrtle passed away in July 2007.
Lincoln loved music, travel, flying and golfing with his son, John. He was a loving father and wonderful provider. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Lincoln is survived by son, John (Sandy) Boyd, of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; daughters: Sandra Boyd of Vista, Calif., and Susan (Rick) Heenan of Oceanside, Calif.; nephews: Don P. Woody (Sandy) Boyd, Highlands Ranch Colo., and Steve (Jane) Peterson, Fargo, N.D.; nieces: Vicki (Mike) Laird, Oskaloosa, Iowa, Polly (Chuck) Christiansen, Westminster, Colo., Barbara Jo Peterson, Aberdeen, S.D., and Nancy (Joe) Hartung, Aberdeen, S.D.
Lincoln is preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle; his parents; his brother, Don A. Boyd; and his sister, Jean E. (Boyd) Peterson, Aberdeen, who died in May, 2010.
