Ashley, N.D.: Cliff Haro, age 84, of Ashley, ND, passed away August 16, 2011, at his home.
Clifford Theodore Haro was born on June 29, 1927, to Arne S. and Mabel (Olson) Haro in Gackle, ND. He moved with his family to rural Marion in 1936.
Cliff graduated from LaMoure High School, LaMoure, ND, in 1945. He was active in the David Lloyd Chapter of the FFA and served as a State FFA Officer.
Cliff was united in marriage to Harriet Johnson on June 8, 1952, at High Prairie Lutheran Church. They farmed in Gladstone Township, rural LaMoure, where they raised their four children: Jane, Sam, John and Lynn. Harriet passed away in 1992.
He was united in marriage to Irene DeWald in 1996, and they resided in Ashley, ND.
Cliff was active in his church and community his entire life. He was a lifelong member of High Prairie Lutheran Church, where he held various offices on the Church Council and Cemetery Board.
He was active in the Rural Electric Cooperatives, serving on the James Valley Electric Board, the NDREC Board and the Central Power Board. His community involvement also includes more than 25 years on the Democratic-NPL Board and more than 40 years on the Township Board.
Cliff is survived by his wife Irene of Ashley, ND; his daughter, Jane (Joe) Haro-LaMotte of Atlanta, GA; his sons, Sam (Marcia) of Williston, John (Sheryl) of Verona and Lynn of LaMoure; seven grandchildren: Nicole (Johannes) Lemus of Muskego, WI, Meggan (Joe) Veierstahler of Fox Point, WI, Julie of Minot, Mark of Williston, Ben of Moody AFB, Valdosta, GA, Jacob of Verona and Christopher of Atlanta, GA; and four great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include his sisters: Irene (John R.) Kraning of Fergus Falls, MN, Barbara Haro of Olympia, WA, and Margaret Haro of Marion, IA; and his brothers: Arnie G. (Adeline) of Marion, James (Judy) of Cedar Rapids, IA, and William Rodney (Marge) of Cedar Rapids, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Harriet; and a sister, Ethel (John R.) Potts.
Prayer Service: Sunday, August 21, 2011 at 7 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Ashley, ND. Visitation 6 to 7 p.m.
Funeral Service: Monday, August 22, 2011, at 10 a.m. at High Prairie Lutheran Church, rural LaMoure. Visitation: 9 to 10 a.m.
Burial: High Prairie Cemetery, rural LaMoure, ND.
