A Redfield man was killed in a motorcycle crash Thursday morning in Aurora County.
Donald Lewis, 82, was riding his 1988 Harley-Davidson FLTC motorcycle west on Interstate 90 about 3 miles west of White Lake when he entered the ditch to the right of the roadway, lost control of the motorcycle and rolled, according to a release from the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
Lewis and his 12-year-old granddaughter, who was riding as a passenger with him, were thrown from the motorcycle, according to the release.
His granddaughter, whose name was not released, suffered minor injuries according to the release.
Lewis and his granddaughter were both wearing helmets, the release stated.
The Highway Patrol is investigating. The Aurora County Sheriff's Office, White Lake Fire and Rescue and the Brule County Sheriff's Office assisted.
