Fort Collins, Colo.: John (Jack) Leslie Shedd Jr., 91, of Fort Collins, Colo., passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Northern Colorado Long Term Acute Care Hospital following a brief illness.
Jack was born July 30, 1920, in Aberdeen to Mabel Guldeman Shedd and John Leslie Shedd Sr. After finishing high school in Aberdeen, Jack continued his education at South Dakota School of Mines, graduating with a degree in engineering. Following college, he enlisted in the Army to fight in World War II. He reached the rank of Second Lieutenant and completed his tour in the U.S.
Jack married Lucille Regina in New York in 1946, and in 1956 they moved to California. He pursued a career in the aircraft/aerospace industry and later was hired by Hydril Corporation. In 1986, Jack purchased Talco Plastics Inc., a small plastics recycling company located in Corona, Calif. He remained active in the company until his passing.
In 1997, Jack married Winifred Storeim, his high school sweetheart who has lived in Fort Collins since 1968. They were married in Estes Park on May 24. Both were actively involved with Timberline Church, and particularly with a group in the church known as the Primetimers.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Winnie; four children and their spouses: John (Susan), Jill (Chuck) Heathco, Rick, and Robert (Debbie); 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his oldest sister, Gladys.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and John, and by his sister, Eleanor.
The service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, at Timberline Church, 2908 S. Timberline Road, Fort Collins. Pastor John Engle will preside over the service. A reception at Timberline Church will follow. The committal will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Grandview Cemetery, 1900 West Mountain Ave. in Fort Collins.
