Boy Scout Troop 502, sponsored by St. George’s Episcopal Church, reported the inclusion of six sets of brothers in its active membership for 1992-93. The Scouts and their families were given special recognition at the troop’s Fall Court of Honor. The sibling Scouts were Ian and Adam Pinkham, Jonathan and James Jundt, Louis and Steve Lee, Jeff and Michael Daems, Tom and Mark Kolokotrones, and Chris and Ryan Kelly.

Agatha Christie’s “The Unexpected Guest” was staged at the Oak Grove Auditorium by the La Cañada Players amateur theater group in November 1982. The director was Bill Burchette.

The public library on Oakwood Avenue was presented with a motion picture sound projector by Friends of the La Cañada Library. Kathryn Ginoza, librarian, accepted the gift from the all-volunteer group.
Fifty Years Ago
The first services in the new chapel of St. George’s Episcopal Church were held on Thursday, Nov. 1, 1962, All Saints Day. “This is a day that will long be remembered by the people of St. George’s,” said the Rev. Joseph D. Redinger, vicar. More than 200 families were members of the church, which was founded in 1958 and originally met at the Thursday Club.
Sixty Years Ago
It was announced that riding club property on the east side of town would be purchased by the La Cañada school district for $151,000. A lease permitting continued use of the land for equestrian purposes would be negotiated, but the acreage was bought to be held for a future school site.
