La Cañada students load up relief supplies to send to Alaska as part of a Junior Red Cross relief effort in the spring of 1964, after the 49th state was devastated by a major, 9.2 magnitude earthquake. At the wheel of a Red Cross station wagon is Bill Brown, a Key Club member at La Cañada High. With him is Sue Shaffer, LCHS Girls League representative; Steve Brodhead (kneeling), St. Bede School student; Mary Sinclair, a member of the student council at Oak Grove Elementary School and Jim Brown, a student at Foothill Intermediate School.
