Now Nintendo is getting ready for something new, and it does a lot more than just play games.
This Sunday Nintendo is set to release their newest addition to the Wii family, the Wii U. The console will allow gamers to play games video chat, and browse the internet as well play games. With the Wii U, Nintendo is introducing a brand new two-screen gaming experience with a touch screen controller called Gamepad.
“Even if dad’s watching a game, the kids can also be playing a game on the Wii U GamePad controller,” said Corey Olcsvary, the Product Marketing Specialist at Nintendo.
The Wii U aims to bring the whole family together with games like New Super Mario Bros. U, and NintendoLand said Olcsvary. But, they also have something for the hardcore gamers like ZombiU and popular titles like Call of Duty.
More than 50 new games will soon be available for the new system, plus its also backwards compatible with discs from Wii.
Beyond gaming, the Wii U offers a full fledged entertainment experience bringing all of your entertainment options together. With one search you browse videos across Hulu Plus, Netflix, Amazon Video, YouTube and more--all in HD.
“So with the Wii U console and Wii U GamePad, we really think it’s going to bring everyone together in the livingroom,” said Olcsvary. “So we really think it’s got something for everyone.”
A base model sells for $300, but for $50 more you get four times the hard drive space, plus a lot of extras.
