Lutheran hands Speedway their first loss of the season 33-27

Lutheran's defense bent but didn't break during Speedways final drive of the game, batting down Austin Angela's last chance pass in the endzone to win the battle of ranked opponents from different classifications, 33-27.

The Saints led 33 to 20 heading into the 4th quarter but on a 4th and 11 play Sparkplugs quarterback Autin Anglea connected with Justin Brent on a 36 yard touchdown, putting Speedway with in 6 points.

With a little more then 2 minutes remaining the Sparkplugs decided to onside kick, but it was Lutheran who recoverd. The Saints couldn't get past mid-field and had to punt, giving the Sparkplugs a chance to win it.

With under 40 seconds remaining and no timeouts Speedway completed two passes to set them up at the Lutheran 21 yard line. Angela had 3 chances at the endzone but all of the pass plays were broken up and Lutheran rushed the field to celebrate the win.

"I was at North Putnam for a few years and had the oppurtunity to play them and it seems like in every ball game they have a chance to come back. They have tremendous athletes, they are one of the best coached football teams in Indiana. All glory to god, we hung in there and our kids played their tails off and I'm proud of them," said Lutheran head coach Dave Pasch.

The Saints improve to 7-1 while Speedway drops to 7-1.
