Pacers sign Gerald Green, Augustin reportedly on the way as well
Indy Star's Mike Wells tweeted out Thursday afternoon that the Pacers have come to an agreement with Augustin
General Manager Kevin Pritchard (@nbakev) sent out a tweet confirming a deal with former Nets guard Gerald Green.
The Pacers followed with a release confirming the news, while not announcing terms of teh agreement. Green finished the 2011-12 season with the New Jersey Nets, where he averaged 12.9 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. In his career, he has averaged 8.3 ppg and 2.2 rpg.
"We've watched Gerald and we saw how he improved last year," said Pritchard, in a statement provided by the Pacers. "His scoring off the bench should help us in the future. He's one of the most dynamic athletes I've seen, and how he's improved will make him a great addition to the Pacers family."
Green was selected with the 18th overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics.
While the Pacers have not announced a point guard signing, various reports say they have agreed to terms with Charlotte's D.J. Ausustin.
D.J. Augustin, a four-year veteran that has played his entire career with the Charlotte Bobcats, signed a one-year deal with the franchise Thursday afternoon according to Indy Star beat writer Mike Wells.
Augustin played in 48 games during the 2011-12 season, averaging 11.1 points and 6.4 assists for a struggling Bobcats franchise. He became an unrestricted free-agent earlier in the day when the Bobcats rescinded his qualifying offer.
The news comes fresh a day after the Pacers made couple of transctions, including trading for back-up center Ian Mahinmi from the Dallas Mavericks, which was followed by reaching a deal with free-agent forward Gerald Green.
Indiana was in need of a point guard when they sent Darren Collison and Dahntay Jones to the Mavericks for the 6"11 Mahinmi.
The 24-year-old point guard has averaged 10.9 points per game and 4.4 assists during his NBA career, and was drafted 9th overall out of the University of Texas in 2008.
