SOUTH ORANGE, NJ (WPIX)—Seton Hall introduced its two newest members to the basketball staff on Wednesday: men's head coach, Kevin Williard and women's head coach, Anne Donovan.
Willard takes over a team with plenty of problems on and off the court despite their solid 19-13 record this past season. In addition the team's top three scorers and rebounders, guard Jeremy Hazell and forwards Jeff Robinson and Herb Pope, say they plan to enter the NBA draft. Willard remains enthused about his new position and says he plans to build a program based on "character, focus and hard work".
Anne Donovan comes to the Pirates from the NY Liberty. The New Jersey native and U.S. Olympic coach takes over after Phyllis Mangina resigned following her 25 year stint at Seton Hall. The Pirates finished a dismal 9-21 this past year, only posting one win against Big East opponents. Donovan will coach NY's WNBA team one more season before taking over at Seton Hall full time in August.
