UC Irvine 5, Cal State Bakersfield 4 (10 innings)

BAKERSFIELD — Sophomore Jerry McClanahan's two-out single plated Connor Spencer with the winning run in the 10th inning to lead the visiting Anteaters in the nonconference game Tuesday.

Spencer, who was two for three with two runs scored, walked to start the winning rally, after UCI closer Race Parmenter blew a save in the ninth to allow the Roadrunners to pull even, 4-4.

Spencer advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Ronnie Shaeffer and made it to third on a passed ball. After the second out was recorded on a groundout, McClanahan singled for the winning RBI.

Taylor Sparks, Jonathan Herkins and Mikey Duarte also drove in runs for UCI (16-5), which used six pitchers.

Mitch Merten earned the win in relief. Starter Evan Brock did not allow an earned run in four innings. He gave up four hits, walked one and struck out five.

CSU Bakersfield is 17-8.
