LHP Zach Britton pitched the ninth inning Sunday to close the Orioles' 1-0 win over the Blue Jays for his 37th save of the season. He posted the second-highest single-season save total by a Baltimore left-hander. LHP Randy Myers had 45 saves in 1997.

2B Jonathan Schoop's home run with two outs in the fifth inning Sunday to lead Baltimore to a 1-0 win at Toronto. It was the rookie's 16th homer of the season. He never hit more than 14 in a minor league season.

RHP Preston Guilmet was designated for assignment Saturday, clearing a spot on the Orioles' 40-man roster for INF Alexi Casilla. Guillmet, 27, went 0-1 with a 5.23 ERA in 10 appearances for Baltimore this year.

RF Nick Markakis will get his chance to play in postseason for the first time when the Orioles meet the Detroit Tigers in the AL Division Series starting Thursday at Camden Yards. Markakis missed the postseason in 2012 with a fractured thumb. "It's exciting, but, then again, it's baseball," Markakis said after the Orioles beat the Blue Jays 1-0 at Toronto in the final game of the regular season. Markakis made a superb catch on a liner by SS Jose Reyes in the fifth with a runner at third to keep Toronto off the board. "You've got to have fun doing it. We all realize that. We're just going to go out there and, as they say, play a kid's game and do what we can do to win."

RHP Chris Tillman who will start against the Detroit Tigers on Thursday at Comerica Park in the AL Division Series opener, took his first road loss of the year when the Blue Jays beat the Orioles 4-2 Friday. He finished the season 8-1 in 16 road starts. With a road winning percentage of .889, he is tied for second in single-season Baltimore history with LHP Erik Bedard (2007), RHP Mike Mussina (1994) and RHP Jim Palmer (1982). LHP Scott McGregor holds the club record with a .933 mark (14-1) in 1983.

RHP Miguel Gonzalez pitched five innings to earn the win Sunday in the Orioles' 1-0 win over the Blue Jays in the regular-season finale. Although the rotation was not set for the AL Division Series against the Tigers except for RHP Chris Tillman in the opener Thursday, Gonzalez likely will start the third game at Comerica Park. Gonzalez is the fourth Orioles starter to reach 10 wins this season. The Tigers clinched the AL Central with their win Sunday. "It was a tight situation in the Central," Gonzalez said. "It doesn't matter who we face. We still have to go out there and make pitches, hit and make plays. That's what we are all about. We are excited for this and can't wait for Thursday."
