Josh Bogorad, play-by-play announcer for the Alaska Aces for the last three seasons, is leaving the state to take a job with the NHL's Dallas Stars. Bogorad, 33, will serve as the Stars' pre-game, post-game, and intermission host on their radio broadcasts.
Bogorad was a finalist for the ECHL Broadcaster of the Year award all three years covering the Aces, winning the honor in 2011. That same year, he got to call Alaska's run to its second Kelly Cup title.
"I'm so excited for the opportunity, and I can't wait to get to Dallas," Bogorad said. "But I honestly never thought when I would get to the NHL, it would be as hard to leave a place as Alaska. It's been something I'll never forget -- the experience of a lifetime, personally and professionally."
The Aces have already begun their search for a new play by play announcer. Alaska opens the regular season Friday, October 18 at home versus the San Francisco Bulls.
