Chavez, 21, will fight Genaro Trazancos, 36, in a 10-round welterweight bout that will be televised live from the Palenque Fex in Mexicali by Fox Deportes in the USA and TV Azteca in Mexico.
Saturday’s fight will be Chavez’s first 10-round fight and first main event.
Trazancos is 22-14-1 with 13 knockouts. Trazancos has been knocked out seven times in his past eight bouts, including his past four fights.
There have been protests by various organizations, saying Trazancos will get badly hurt according to an article published on www.boxingscene.com
Despite the protests, Trazancos plans on going forward and is even annoyed by the organizations stats the Web site’s article.
“Omar does not yet have the skills to face someone like me who have faced world champions,” declared the boxer on www.boxingschene.com. “I think it was Zanfer (Promotions) who wanted a way out because they realized the mistake they made when they hired me to face a spoiled child like Omar Chavez.”
Trazancos has fought Edwin Valero and Jose Miguel Cotto.
