SMITHSBURG — Austin Johnson had two goals and two assists to lead South Hagerstown to its first win of the season with an MVAL Antietam victory over Smithsburg.
Brayden Tiner and Anthony Owusu each had a goal, John Michael Carbaugh had an assist and Joe Rohr had 10 saves for the Rebels (1-6, 1-3).
Adler Garrett recorded a hat trick, Ryan Bolton had two assists and Adam Dwyer had nine saves for the Leopards (1-5, 0-3).
Clear Spring 0, Catoctin 0
CLEAR SPRING — Clear Spring and Catoctin combined for 45 shots, but neither team could find the back of the net as they played to a scoreless tie in an MVAL Antietam match.
The Blazers (5-1-1, 2-1-1) outshot the Cougars, 28-17.
Levi Bucher made 14 saves for Clear Spring, while Wyatt Farmer had 13 saves for Catoctin.

Grace Academy won its first game of the year as Joe Kim scored twice. Tony Hahn and Nathan Brazil each had goals and Josiah House, Miles Kang and Ryan Weagly each had an assist.

Cancer Awareness Night
The South Hagerstown boys and girls soccer teams will have a Breast Cancer Awareness Night when the Rebel teams host St. Maria Goretti on Oct. 4. The boys will match up at 5 p.m. with the girls contest to follow at 7.
All donations and gate receipts will benefit Breast Cancer Awareness Cumberland Valley. South High players will wear pink socks and the games will be played with pink soccer balls.
Jim Schouller and Paul Bedigian, the professionals at Fountain Head Country Club, will play golf from sunrise to sunset on Thursday to raise money for the Community Free Clinic of Hagerstown.
This will be the fifth year Fountain Head has conducted this event.
