Thatcher and Ken Lampard each posted par on the final hole, forcing a chipoff and Thatcher’s chip rolled to within five feet of the hole for the win.
Denny Stoner finished third followed by Brian Crabtree and Alex Hoffman.
Beaver Creek pro Dirk Schultz, winner of the last five Shootouts, was ousted on the third shootout hole, playing from the blue tees.
Pat Steiner’s 338-yard drive on No. 13 and Hoffman’s shot to within two feet of the pin on the par-3 14th were the top contest shots of the day.
