Lumberjacks Fire Head Coach Kevin Patrick

The Muskegon Lumberjacks have parted ways with head coach Kevin Patrick, firing their coach early Friday morning.

Patrick led the Lumberjacks to the playoffs last season, but the team has struggled this year. Muskegon sits seventh in the USHL Eastern Conference standings.

NHL Veteran Jim McKenzie is taking over as interim head coach. Legendary Michigan State hockey coach Ron Mason has been hired as Muskegon's senior hockey advisor. Mason's grandson, Travis Walsh, played for Muskegon last year.

“It was a difficult decision to make as Kevin helped build our organization when the Lumberjacks first became a part of the USHL,” said Lumberjacks Owner/CEO Josh Mervis , who will assume the club’s General Manager responsibilities. “The team was not having the results we needed and it was time to move in a new direction.”
