Franzen Records Hat Trick, Wings Win 2nd Straight

Johan Franzen recorded a hat trick, and the rebounding Detroit Red Wings beat the slumping Colorado Avalanche, 5-2, at Joe Louis Arena.

Nicklas Lidstrom and Danny Cleary also tallied for the Red Wings, who got 24 saves from Jimmy Howard.

Detroit has won two games in a row after an 0-5-1 skid.

Rookie Gabriel Landeskog and Milan Hejduk each had a power-play goal for Colorado, which suffered its fourth straight loss and sixth in seven games overall. Semyon Varlamov was pulled after yielding three goals on 16 shots.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 12 saves in relief.
