The Red Wings spotted the Penguins a 4-0 lead in the second period before mounting a comeback that saw Detroit tie the game up midway through the third period.
Penguins forwards Pascal Dupuis and Chris Kunitz each scored in the first period. Dupuis added his second goal of the night with a shorthanded tally to make it 3-0. Tyler Kennedy made it 4-0 13:16 into the second period, chasing Jimmy Howard from Detroit's net.
Then the Red Wings started the comeback. Henrik Zetterberg got the Wings on board first with a backhanded goal at the 17:41 mark of the second period.
