Lions Sign Calvin Johnson to Contract Extension
The Detroit Lions have re-signed All Pro receiver Calvin Johnsonto a new 8 year contract. The team first reported the news on its Twitter feed today.

Multiple reports, including from ESPN, say that the deal is worth $132 million and includes $60 million guaranteed. That would make Johnson's contract the richest ever for an NFL wide receiver, surpassing Larry Fitzgerald's $120 million deal with Arizona that was signed last year.

The contract extension will keep Megatron in a Lions uniform through the 2019 season. Johnson was set to enter the final year of the contract he signed as the number 2 overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft.

Johnson led the league with 1,681 receiving yards in 2012, and added another 211 in the plyoff loss to New Orleans. That amount was an NFL record for a player making his postseason debut.

The team is holding a news conference at 1 p.m. ET, we will have much more on FOX 17 News.
