I play a little game with myself on Mondays. It's called Guess the Spread.
Several weeks back, I predicted Ohio State would be favored by nine points at Northwestern. The line opened at four, and I thought: Man, Vegas thinks more of the Wildcats than I do. (Wouldn't you know it was a four-point game until the final play.)
On to the picks:
Minnesota (plus 8) at Indiana: See above. Minnesota.
Northwestern (plus 6) at Nebraska: Neither NU inspires much confidence. Strong belief, though, that this will be a close one. Northwestern.
Wisconsin (minus 9) at Iowa: Two high-octane, no-huddle spread teams … oh, wait … wrong game. Wisconsin.
Ohio State (minus 31 1/2) at Purdue: Via the money line, you'd have to plunk down $12,500 on the Buckeyes to win a hundred. If I could cobble that together, I'd be tempted. Ohio State.
Auburn (minus 8) at Arkansas: Bret Bielema has gotten lippy at the wrong time. Auburn.
Best bet: Auburn.
Last week: 4-2. Season: 35-41.
Best bets: 4-5.
