Loyola Maryland evened its record in the Patriot League with a 72-68 victory over visiting Lehigh on Saturday at Reitz Arena.

The Greyhounds, who won for only the second time in their past eight games, improved to 7-8 overall and 2-2 in the Patriot League. Lehigh lost for the fourth time in its past five games, slipping to 8-9 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

Loyola senior guard Dylon Cormier (Cardinal Gibbons) led all scorers with 25 points. Senior guard Mackey McKnight paced Lehigh with 17 points — all in the second half.

Loyola trailed once, within the first minute of the game. The Greyhounds' biggest lead was 50-36 with 13:44 left after senior forward Jordan Latham's layup.

After Lehigh closed to within 68-64 with 35 seconds left, Latham sealed it by making two free throws with 24.4 seconds remaining.

Loyola took a 35-32 lead into halftime, thanks to the Greyhounds outscoring Lehigh 18-10 in the paint. Lehigh turned the ball over eight times in the first half.

UMBC 79, Maine 76: The host Retrievers pushed through in the final minute, outlasting the Black Bears for their first America East conference victory.

UMBC (5-11, 1-2) led 78-75 with possession and 50 seconds to play, but turned the ball over, giving it to Maine (3-12, 1-2) with 17.8 seconds left.

However, the Black Bears returned the favor, throwing the ball away and giving the Retrievers another opportunity to ice the game.

Malik Garner missed two free throws, and the Retrievers fouled guard Xavier Pollard to prevent a game-tying 3-pointer. Pollard made the first free throw, and a lane violation on the second gave UMBC the ball.

Rodney Elliott (John Carroll) made one of two free throws to push the margin back to three.
