PHOENIX -- The Ravens were awarded four compensatory picks for next month's draft, bringing their total number of selections to 12.
Because of their free-agent losses last offseason, they were awarded extra picks in the fourth (130th overall), fifth (168l), sixth (203) and seventh (247) rounds, the NFL announced Monday at its annual meetings at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel.
The Ravens already had picks in all seven rounds and an extra sixth-round selection courtesy of the trade that sent veteran wide receiver Anquan Boldin to the San Francisco 49ers.

Under the rules for compensatory draft selections, a team losing more, or better, free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks. The maximum number of compensatory picks a team can receive is four. The Atlanta Falcons also received four extra picks.
Last offseason, the reigning Super Bowl champions lost six free agents, the primary three being Pro Bowl left guard Ben Grubbs (New Orleans Saints), linebacker Jarret Johnson (San Diego Chargers) and defensive end Cory Redding (Indianapolis Colts).
Meanwhile the Ravens signed just two free agents from other teams, defensive backs Corey Graham from the Chicago Bears and Sean Considine from the Arizona Cardinals. Wide receiver/kick returner Jacoby Jones doesn't enter the equation because he had been released by the Houston Texans before signing with the Ravens.
The Ravens have been awarded 37 compensatory picks since 1995, the most in the league during that span. In the past two drafts, the Ravens have added defensive end Pernell McPhee and defensive backs Chykie Brown and Asa Jackson and Christian Thompson via compensatory picks.
The NFL draft starts April 25 with the first round. Rounds two and three will be on April 26 and rounds four through seven are on April 27.Orioles Insider | Live scores | Photos | Baseball app
