Monday, June 24: Fisheries assistant Andrew Turner of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will share his knowledge of smart buoys in the Chesapeake Bay and their usefulness to fishermen at the monthly meeting of the Perry Hall Chapter of the Maryland Saltwater Sportfishing Association at 7:30 p.m. at Gunpowder VFW Post 10067, 6309 Ebenezer Road. Saturday, June 29: The Annapolis Yacht Club will celebrate its 127th anniversary with a competition held in donated, member-owned Harbor 20s between past members of club leadership. The first race starts at 2 p.m. Spectators are encouraged to watch from the Eastport Bridge and surrounding properties of Spa Creek.

'Streak Thru Aberdeen'

Sept. 6: The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation will host its inaugural "Streak Thru Aberdeen" 7K Run at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, the anniversary of Cal Ripken Jr. breaking Lou Gehrig's streak of consecutive baseball games played. Proceeds will support Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation programs, which help build character and teach life lessons to underserved youth in distressed communities through sports-themed programming.
