Lefty Kreh's Tiefest
March 9:Fly-tiers such as Bob Popovics, Steve Silverio and Blane Crockett will demonstrate patterns effective in the mid-Atlantic region and answer questions at Lefty Kreh's Tiefest, sponsored by the Coastal Conservation Association Maryland. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville. Casting instruction will be available for youngsters under 16 years from 11 a.m. to noon. Free for CCA members and youngsters under 16; $10 for others. Non-members may join CCA at the event for $25 and get in free.

Md. Half Marathon
May 11: Registration is open for the fifth annual Maryland Half Marathon to benefit the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center. The race will be in the Maple Lawn community of Howard County. The cost of registration will be $75 until Jan. 31, $85 in February and $90 from March 1 to May 11.
