Season in review: Because starter Joe Flacco is one of the most durable quarterbacks in the NFL, Taylor saw limited action in 2012, his second season in the NFL. He completed 17 of 29 passes, most of them coming in a meaningless Week 17 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, for 179 yards and one interception. He also rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries in 2012.
Signature moment: In that 23-17 loss to the Bengals, Taylor dropped back to pass but was flushed out of the pocket. Rolling left, he was untouched as he jogged into the end zone for his first career touchdown.
Stat that stands out: 62.3 -- Taylor's passer rating in seven games last season.
Pro Football Focus grade: +2.0 overall | -0.6 as a passer | +2.4 as a rusher | 0.0 as a receiver.
Outlook for 2013 and beyond: The Ravens signed Caleb Hanie, but the backup quarterback job is Taylor's to lose. While his scrambling ability is tantalizing, Taylor has said he wants to continue to improve as a passer, specifically mentioning that he needs to focus on dropping back quicker and getting the ball out of his hands sooner. That will come in handy in the unprecedented event that Flacco misses a game due to injury.
