Ravens rule out Eugene Monroe, Timmy Jernigan, Arthur Brown

Ravens will start James Hurst at left tackle and Haloti Ngata at defensive tackle.

The Ravens made it official, ruling out left offensive tackle Eugene Monroe, rookie defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan and reserve linebacker Arthur Brown.

They didn't practice all week and weren't expected to play Saturday night agains tthe Pittsburgh Steelers in an AFC wild-card playoff game at Heinz Field.

Monroe has been sidelined ever since he injured his ankle against the Houston Texans. James Hurst will start in his place for the second consecutive game, with John Urschel playing right guard and Pro Bowl guard Marshal Yanda playing right tackle again.

Jernigan hurt his left foot and ankle against the Cleveland Brown. He'll be replaced in the starting lineup by five-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Haloti Ngata. Ngata has returned from a four-game suspension for violating the NFL performance-enhancing drug policy for testing positive for Adderall.

Both Monroe and Jernigan are in walking boots, according to sources.

A 2013 second-round draft pick, Brown pulled his hamstring on special teams against the Browns.

Defensive end Chris Canty is probable with an ankle injury. He practiced all week after missing the Browns game with the ankle injury.

Besides ruling out starting running back Le'Veon Bell with a hyperextended knee, the Steelers are relatively healthy.

All of their other players are listed as probable, including offensive tackle Mike Adams (illness), outside linebacker James Harrison (illness), quarterback Landry Jones (illness), defensive tackle Steve McClendon (shoulder), tight end Michael Palmer (shoulder), safety Troy Polamalu (knee) and cornerback Ike Taylor (forearm, shoulder).
