Rice and his fiancee were arrested over the weekend after a fight at an Atlantic City casino.
Newsome, Ravens coach John Harbaugh and team officials continue to huddle about the former Pro Bowl running back's legal situation. Speaking at a news conference to announce Terrell Suggs' contract extension, Newsome said that he and Harbaugh had yet to talk to Rice, but that they hope to do so within the next day.

"When I left my office 20 minutes ago, and John had probably been there 15 minutes before then, Ray Rice was still a big part of what we plan to do in 2014," Newsome said.
Rice and his fiancee, Janay Palmer, were arrested and charged with simple assault-domestic violence after Revel Casino security called police following a domestic incident between them that was captured on video surveillance, according to a police statement.
"The complaint summons indicates that both Rice and Palmer struck each other with their hands," the statement said.
No injuries were reported by Rice or Palmer, and both declined medical attention.
Rice's attorney, Andrew Alperstein, told The Baltimore Sun on Sunday that it was a “very minor physical altercation” involving the NFL player and Palmer.
Rice and Palmer were transported to the Atlantic City Police Department holding facility, charged and released after being given a summons to appear in court.
When asked if he was concerned about Rice, Newsome said he's in an information-gathering mode.
"I don't know the situation," Newsome said. "I've only gotten what has been written. I have not had a chance to talk to Ray. I have had a chance to talk to [director of team security] Darren [Sanders]. I really don't know that situation. With me, I get all the answers. Then that's when we make decisions within this organization, once we get all the information we can get."
Sunday night, Ravens director of public relations Chad Steele issued the following statement: "We are aware of the Friday night situation with Ray Rice and his fiancee. We have spoken with Ray, and know that they returned home together after being detained.”
