Because of his running and big-play ability, most teams would prefer to play zone against Griffin. That keeps him somewhat contained.
But last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Ravens appeared to struggle staying in a zone and had communication problems.
When an opposing team plays man-to-man against Griffin, that can open up the entire field to him if he gets out of the pocket.
The Ravens might attempt to use a spy, and that would seem like an assignment for strong safety Bernard Pollard, even though he doesn't have the speed to match Griffin.
The Ravens also could use outside linebacker Dannell Ellerbe in this game, but he is questionable with a foot/ankle injury. Without Ellerbe, the Ravens had problems in coverage against the Steelers.
One thing is for sure, if the Ravens get an opportunity for a good shot on Griffin, they need to take it.
And Pollard probably has been seeing that opportunity in his sleep all this week.
