His gold-medal performance in the 1976 Olympics launched the celebrated career of the classy fighter from Palmer Park. Leonard won 36 of 40 pro bouts and captured world titles in five divisions, from welterweight to light heavyweight. Four times in title fights, he defeated Hall of Famers (Wilfred Benitez, Roberto Duran, Marvin Hagler and <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB002303" title="Thomas Hearns" href="/topic/entertainment/thomas-hearns-PECLB002303.topic">Thomas Hearns</a>). Leonard entered the International Boxing Hall in 1997.
