A pillar of Maryland's defense, he took the Terps to two bowl games and was named Most Valuable Player of the 1974 Liberty Bowl -- a 7-3 loss to Tennessee. Fast, smart and durable, the 6-foot-4 end won the Outland Trophy as the nation's best interior lineman and the Lombardi Award as the nation's top lineman or linebacker. Twice a first-team All-American, he later starred with the Dallas Cowboys and was co-MVP of the 1978 Super Bowl.
