"This is what we do," guard Seimone Augustus screamed, firing up a crowd that filled half the lower bowl inside the Lynx’s home arena.
Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak greeted the crowd and shared his rhyming skills with a poem that ended, "For other Minnesota sports teams, let’s hope they are contagious."
Along the nearly mile-long parade route, fans stood up to five rows deep, as Lynx players and staff rode by in classic convertibles.
"The passion the fans have for us is overwhelming," power forward Rebekkah Brunson said during the parade. "I’m so glad we can keep delivering something special for them."
The Lynx won their second WNBA title in three seasons last week when they completed a three-game sweep of the Atlanta Dream. In the past three seasons, the Lynx have won a WNBA-record 99 games.
