GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A Grand Forks Red River high school wrestler is disputing a referee's call that he bit an opponent.
The decision means 16-year-old Sean Murphy won't be eligible to wrestle in this week's North Dakota state high school wrestling tournament.
The referee at Murphy's regional match last weekend says he bit his opponent.
Murphy's coaches and family say he scratched the other wrestler with his braces after his mouth guard was knocked out.
WDAZ-TV of Grand Forks (http://bit.ly/w4Z8Q1) reports that Murphy's father, Eric Murphy, says the North Dakota High School Activities Association has no appeals process.
Eric Murphy hints he might sue to get the disqualification reversed.
Sean Murphy wrestles at 120 pounds. He's considered one of the top wrestlers in eastern North Dakota.
