Three women will share their courageous and powerful stories at Northern State this fall as part of the university’s second annual Common Read.
National Geographic adventurer Jennifer Pharr Davis next week will present “A Life of Exploration” at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the NSU Student Center Centennial rooms C and D. Pharr Davis, author of “Becoming Odyssa” and “Called Again: A Story of Love and Triumph,” holds the record for the fastest through hike of the Appalachian Trail. All these events are free and open to the public.
Activist Myra Dahgaypaw’s presentation, “A Conversation about Burma and the Karen,” will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 21 in Krikac Auditorium. New York Times best-selling author Jeannette Walls will talk at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20, in the Johnson Fine Arts Center Theater. Her “The Glass Castle” was named one of the “Top 10 Books of the Decade” by Amazon.com. Tickets are required for Walls’ free talk, which are available at northern.edu.
