Three Aberdeen Central football players were named to the first team on the All-Eastern South Dakota Conference list.
Senior Reid Fust was honored as a wide receiver along with Matt Vandeberg of Brandon Valley and Matt Thomas of Brookings. This season Fust caught 53 passes for 803 yards and seven touchdowns.
Another Golden Eagle senior Chris Bobzien made the first team on defense as a linebacker and senior Alex Ruelas was honored as a defensive back.
Junior Josh Hilgeman, a running back, was named to the honorable mention team.
Central finished 2-8 on the season. The Golden Eagles qualified for the post season but lost a first round game to Sioux Falls O'Gorman. The ESD squad is listed in today's Scoreboard.
Magazine features Claremont
Claremont, its national record setting six-man football teams of the 1940s and '50s and the book Six: A Football Coach's Journey to a National Record is featured in the November/December 2011 issue of South Dakota Magazine.
The book was written by Marc Rasmussen, son of former Claremont High School multi-sport star athlete Marv Rasmussen. South Dakota Magazine is published in Yankton. It explores the history, arts, culture, sports and outdoors of the state. Details: 1-800-456-5117.
Pine beetles close road
Needles Highway in the Black Hills between Camp Remington Road and Playhouse Road will be closed for a week starting Wednesday.
Crews will battle mountain pine beetle. The public will still be able to access Playhouse Road and Camp Remington.

Agenda includes fishing rules
The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Commission will hold its monthly meeting at the Ramkota in Pierre this week.
The group will meet from 1-5 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m.-noon Friday. Agenda items include license sales reports, fishing rules, aquatic nuisance species, park visitation numbers, flood updates, deer diseases and prairie dog control.
It also will discuss turkey and goose hunting proposals. There will be a public hearing at 2 p.m. Thursday for those who want to discuss issues with the commission.
Driftbusters meet Thursday
The Aberdeen Driftbusters Snowmobile Club will have its membership meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Pizza Ranch in Aberdeen.
The club also is looking for volunteers to help mark the Dakota Midland Trail. Also, the state snowmobile convention will be in Watertown on Friday and Saturday. The 2012 convention will be in Aberdeen on Nov. 9-10, hosted by the Driftbusters.
