1986 - Huron College lost in the second round of the NAIA basketball tournament, 79-66, to Southeastern Oklahoma. Forward Dennis Rodman had 21 points and grabbed 20 rebounds for the winners.
1991 - Baylor University beat Northern State in the NAIA national basketball tournament, 60-59. Bob Upgren put in 17 points and Sarge Grimes 14 for the Wolves, who ended the season at 26-8.
1996 - Sioux Falls Roosevelt put the clamps on Aberdeen Central in the second quarter, outscoring the Golden Eagles 21-7 during that stretch, and went on to a 69-47 victory in the first round of the State AA high school basketball tournament. Nate Malchow scored 18 points to lead Aberdeen.
2001 - Johnny Estrada had four hits, including a two-run homer and a double, and drove in four runs to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to an 11-6 exhibition baseball victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
2006 - Winona State topped Northern State 96-86 in the championship game of the North Central Regional Tournament. Adam Grant poured in 25 points to lead the Wolves, who finished their season at 27-6. Winona (29-4) will make its first appearance in the Elite Eight tournament, being played in Springfield, Mass.
2010 - Teams selected as the top seeds in their regions for the NCAA men's basketball tournament included Kansas, Syracuse, Kentucky and Duke.
