1986 - Greg LeMond, a 25-year-old Minnesota native, became the first American to win the Tour de France bicycle race after taking a solid lead into the final stage of the 73rd running of the event.
1996 - Brandon Johnson pitched a complete game and added two hits as Warner claimed its first berth in the State B American Legion baseball tournament with a 9-3 victory over Mobridge.
2006 - Justin Link pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts and Michael Babcock had four hits and drove in three runs as the Aberdeen Smittys defeated Watertown 12-0 at the region tournament to qualify for the State A American Legion baseball tournament.
2010 - The North outscored the South 17-4 in the fourth quarter and went on to a 57-49 win in the annual high school All-Star girls' basketball game. Aberdeen Central's Alison Kusler paced the North with 14 points.
