1987 -- Northern State improved to 10-4 on the baseball season, sweeping a doubleheader from Dakota Wesleyan. The Wolves had 22 hits in the doubleheader, winning 5-2 and 16-1.
1992 -- Junior center Val Whiting scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Stanford to a 78-62 victory over Western Kentucky in the NCAA women's basketball tournament championship game.
2002 -- Jeff Joosten had three hits and Kyler Weiger drove in four runs with a pair of hits to lead Northern State's baseball team to an 8-7 victory over Minnesota-Morris in the first game of a doubleheader. Wes Fisbeck's RBI single in the seventh inning helped the Wolves to a sweep with a 4-3 win in the nightcap.
2007 -- Justin Rose and Brett Wetterich each fired rounds of three-under par 69 and share the lead after the opening round of the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, Ga. Defending champion Phil Mickelson shot an opening round of 76.
2011 -- Joey Mitchell of Hitchcock-Tulare and Clay Anderson of Rosholt were among players named to the Class B All-State basketball squad. Mitchell scored 20.8 points per game in leading the Patriots to fifth place at the State B tournament, while Anderson helped the Raiders to a 16-4 season by scoring 23.1 points per game.
