1992 -- Faulkton's Ryan Melius at the Northern State Class B indoor high school track and field meet. Melius won the high jump with a record leap of six feet, six inches and took top honors in the 55-meter hurdles with a record time of 7.9 seconds.
1997 -- The Minnesota Golden Gophers advanced to the Final Four in the NCAA basketball tournament with an 80-72 victory over UCLA in the Midwest Regional championship game. Minnesota will face Kentucky in one national semifinal game, while North Carolina faces Arizona in the other.
2002 -- Oklahoma and Indiana advanced to the Final Four of the NCAA men's basketball tournament. Hollis Price scored the last of 18 points on two free throws with six seconds left as the Sooners beat Missouri 81-75, and Dane Fife tossed in 17 points to lead the fifth-seeded Hoosiers to an 81-69 victory over Kent State.
2007 -- Jeff Green squeezed in between a pair of defenders to bank in a short, off-balance shot with 2.5 seconds remaining, lifting Georgetown to a 66-65 victory over Vanderbilt in the East Regional semifinals of the NCAA men's basketball tournament.
2011 -- Dwyane Wade led four players in double figures with 24 points as the Miami Heat picked up a 100-94 National Basketball Association victory over the Detroit Pistons. Mitchell native Mike Miller tossed in 13 points for Miami.
