Have you ever tried to drink a Krispy Kreme doughnut?

The drinkable version of the company’s signature hot, fresh glazed doughnuts is a frozen beverage, one of several drinks in this popular category of beverages. If drinking your doughnut isn’t quite your cup of tea, the chain also offers several other frozen sugary drinks based on its popular line of doughnuts — double chocolate, raspberry, latte, kreme with coffee, and chocolate with coffee. All of the concoctions come topped with whipped cream.

During a recent taste test, we found that the drinkable version of the company’s signature Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut tasted just like the real thing — but that was too much of a good thing. Doughnuts, it seemed to us, were meant to be chewed, not sipped.

Several other flavors, such as the original with coffee, fared better. The raspberry tasted like frozen Kool-Aid — perfect for kids, but not for adults. The iced double-chocolate tasted like a thick, cold hot-chocolate. One adult taster pronounced the chocolate with coffee “just right.” The kreme with chocolate also fared well in the taste test.

The frozen drinks come in three sizes, small, medium and large. Prices are $2.69 to $3.19 for an 8-ounce cup, the small size. That compares to $5.79 for a dozen glazed Krispy Kreme doughnuts.
