Many people can't imagine a world without chocolate. Those living with a food allergy to chocolate can't imagine a world with it. Experts say that it is possible to be allergic to chocolate, but the allergy is virtually unheard of. They say it's far more likely that someone with an allergic reaction to chocolate probably reacted to an ingredient in the chocolate. Food allergy symptoms include tingling in the mouth; swelling of the lips, face, tongue and throat; hives, breathing difficulty, dizziness, and/or fainting. But some food allergy symptoms overlap with food intolerance symptoms: nausea, vomiting, cramping and diarrhea.
