TV Land Cancels Kirstie Alley Comedy

Kirstie Alley's return to sitcom work was short-lived. TV Land has axed "Kirstie" after one season.

"Kirstie" starred Alley as a Broadway star who reunites with the son she gave up for adoption years ago. The series reunited Alley with her former "Cheers" co-star Rhea Perlman. It also starred Eric Petersen and "Seinfeld's" Michael Richards.

"Kirstie" bowed in December and faced a behind-the-scenes shakeup in February when creator/showrunner Marco Pennette left the show.

TV Land is continuing its aggressive push into scripted comedies, with word circulating that the Viacom cabler is about to greenlight a project toplined by Jim Gaffigan.
