Last survivor of Titanic tragedy dies at 97 years old

Millvina Dean died on Sunday, May 31 at 97 years old in Southampton, England. She was the youngest passenger at nine weeks old on RMS Titanic when she was wrapped in a sack and lowered from the ship into a lifeboat. The supposedly "Unsinkable" Titanic set sail down Southampton Water en-route to <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PLGEO100100800000000" title="New York" href="/topic/us/new-york-PLGEO100100800000000.topic">New York</a> on April 10, 1912 and met disaster on April 14, 1912 after hitting an iceberg off Newfoundland shortly before midnight and sinking two hours later with the loss of 1,500 lives.
