June, July and August in the Northeast means summer stock theater productions, arts performances and other cultural events. But pricey tickets for all that entertainment can eat a hole in your vacation budget. Luckily, there are ways to save — if you know where to look. We’ve got behind-the scenes tips on how to score great deals.

>>Get half-off on same-day tickets to a changing mix of cultural events at Half-Tix locations in North Adams, Pittsfield, Lenox and Great Barrington, Mass. You can check the day’s availability by calling 413-743-1339 after 11 a.m. Cash only; $3 handling fee per ticket. Ticket locations are open Tuesday through Sunday, from noon to 4:30 p.m., from June 18 to Sept. 4. Information: 413-743-1339 or Berkshires.org.

>>Massachusetts and the Highland Street Foundation host Free Fun Fridays, an annual summer program that offers free admissions to cultural destinations in Boston, the Berkshires and other locales around Massachusetts. Each Friday, from June 24 through Aug. 26, eight venues, including Lyric Stage Company of Boston, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, are open free of charge and offering special activities to visitors.
