Arts & Crafts, European Ornaments Among Weekend’s Holiday Sales

Beat the crowds and start your holiday shopping at these sales.

The Handcrafts Around the World sale is Nov. 18, 19 and 20, at the Pine Meadow Fire Station on Route 44 in New Hartford. The event features imported gift, craft and decor items, many at discounted prices,. Hours are noon to 6 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Woodland Gardens, a nursery and garden center at 168 Woodland St., in Manchester, holds a holiday open house on Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to noon, with home-decor demonstrations, refreshments and music. 860-643-8474 and woodlandgardensct.com.

European glass holiday ornaments are available at bargain prices at Tannenbaum Treasures’ annual warehouse sale Nov. 19 and 20, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, in the Centerbrook section of Essex. The event features past-season ornaments and nutcrackers at half or more off retail. The sale is at 17 Industrial Park Road, off Westbrook Road, in the Essex Industrial Park. 860-767-2000.

Friends of the Farmington Libraries book sale will be Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 6 Montieth Drive. 860-673-6791.

The Friends of the Douglas Library of Hebron, 22 Main St., hold a book sale on Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (From 2 to 3 p.m., books are $5 a bag.)

Bizarre Bazaar, a holiday art and craft show at the New England Carousel Museum, 95 Riverside Ave., Bristol, takes place Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum’s arts and crafts room will be open for kids, a magician will be making balloon animals and the $1 admission includes free carousel rides. 860-585-5411.
