After the winter we’ve had, everyone’s got a serious case of cabin fever. The good news is that if you’re looking for spring staycation ideas, there’s an app for that. Actually, there are a number of apps for that. Casinos, museums, parks and other destinations around the state have released tablet and smart phone guides to help you make the most of your trip — and the good news is, most are free.

The brand new Connecticut Official Visitors Guide 2015 iPad app features a virtual journey through the state, with videos, lists of landmarks, destinations and regional attractions, feature stories, lists of restaurants and social media links; ctvisit.com/getawayguide

Foxwoods Resort Casino has a new mobile app that lets you make dinner reservations, book hotel rooms, sign up for rewards cards and buy concert tickets. The Mohegan Sun mobile app for iOS and Android, offers restaurant information, room reservations, upcoming events, shopping and promotions, along with upcoming events and maps of the casino and nearby areas. You can even drop a pin onto the satellite map to remember where you parked or where to meet friends.

Heading to New York City on Metro North? Make the commute like a pro with iTran Metro North for iOS. The app features schedules, timetables between stations and service alerts.

The New Britain Museum of American Art iPad app, ($2.99), is an interactive look at the museum’s collections with video, written text, photos and audio. Among its features is a tour through the permanent collection with Museum Director Douglas Hyland. Users can click on photos of art pieces and choose between audio, video or written text to learn more about the works.

Connecticut State Parks & Forests Guide-Pocket Ranger for iOS features advanced GPS maps, trail data, built-in compass, maps of park facilities and campgrounds, up-to-date news, weather and park advisories, and weather information, calendar of events and access to online reservations for overnight visits.

If you’re into the craft brew craze, you’ll want to download The Connecticut Brewers Guild’s new digital CT Beer Guide for iOS and Android. The app features an interactive map highlighting the state’s breweries and brew pubs, along with a craft beer-related event calendar powered by the Connecticut Beer Trail, and special promotions and offers from participating breweries and brew pubs.

The free CT Barns iPhone app highlights the state’s historic barns and includes seven self-guided driving tours that take you past working farms and wineries.
